Montana legislative biographies collection, 1871-1977 1903-1977.

Beginning in 1903 the Montana Historical Society Library began soliciting biographical information from members of the state legislature. The practice ended with the 1977 session. This collection consists of the original handwritten responses (1903-1977). In addition, there is a folder of compiled information on two legislators, one from the 1871 and 1881 territorial legislatures and one from the 1887 territorial legislature. [A use copy is available in the MHS Library.] This collection consists of original handwritten responses of legislators (1903-1977). In addition, there is a folder of compiled information on two legislators, one, Israel Clem, who served in the 1871 and 1881 territorial legislatures and one Charles W. Hanscom, who served in the 1887 territorial legislature. A few folders include legislative memorials on the deaths of former legislators [A use copy is available in the MHS Library.]
